Coronation of Homecoming Queen, 1969-70
Homecoming was one of the most instrumental times on the Beta Theta Social Calendar. It was the best time to attract potential new members to the Beta Theta Sorority. This was usually done by displaying as much school spirit as possible by building the biggest float, having the best house decorations and participating in tailgating before football games. Members would scream as loud as they could in the Greek student spirit section; this was a reserved section for students, organizes according to membership in campus clubs.
The idea was simple. The more spirit the Betas had, the more female students would want to join. The Pan-Hellenic Council administered rules on how to recruit new members while not sabotaging other sororities' house display floats or other rush gatherings. The Beta Thetas had their own campaigning songs and cheers. The active members would use popular songs of the era and change the lyrics to fit the occasion.
