Basketball was one of three major extramural sports at MSTC during the 1930s. Basketball was one of the popular sports on campus at the time and the MSTC cagers (a slang term for basketball players) represented the college well throughout the decade.
The 1932 Beaver baskeball team brought the North Dakota Inter-Collegiate Conference championship home to MSTC for the first time since 1921. The Beaver cagers entered regular conference play after an undefeated preseason that set the stage for the rest of the season.
In 1937, the Beaver cagers would once again bring the North Dakota Inter-Collegiate Conference championship back to MSTC, the third time the school's team had accomplished this feat.
The 1930s marked a solid decade of basketball at MSTC. The Beaver cagers had winning seasons most years of the decade. They were able to win two conference championships and made a very strong showing in several other seasons.
